Everything you need to know about my animal care salon for the Basel region

Do you have any questions about my services, care or other topics related to my dog grooming salon? In the FAQ section I answer the most frequently asked questions from my customers. Quickly and easily find all the information you need to place your furry friend in our hands.

  • When should my puppy get his first treatment?

It is important to get your puppy groomed as soon as possible. This way he can get used to it and learn to enjoy the care. We recommend that you come two weeks after all vaccinations. During the first visit, your puppy will be introduced to the salon's infrastructure, sounds and smells in a fun way to ensure that future visits are stress-free and your dog can enjoy them in a relaxed manner.

  • How long does it usually take to groom my dog?

On average we need two to three hours to complete a full service, but it depends heavily on the type and condition of your dog's coat and size. We always give our customers an estimated pickup time and contact them when their loved one is ready for pickup. We ask that you do not arrive before you have been contacted as this will distract your pet if treatment is not yet complete.

  • I just want to get my hair cut, not bathe, is that possible?

Unfortunately this is not possible. In any case, the coat must be clean to allow a correct cut and not to damage the scissors/machines. The dog must also have clean skin and hair without tangles so that it receives enough oxygen and remains free of dermatological diseases.

  • My dog's fur is very tangled. Can I still come?

For heavily knotted or matted fur, the only course of action we can take is to cut the hair short and start a new cut. Knots and mats pull on their skin, restrict movement, and in severe cases can even retain moisture, which can lead to bacterial or fungal infections and restrict blood flow to dogs' legs.

  • I want a teddy bear cut, can you/will you do that?

Of course we can also make a “teddy bear cut”. However, only if this is possible and makes sense. So be sure to let me know your wishes. The better I know them, the happier you will be in the end.

  • The fur was cut short due to matting, why is this more expensive?

If we need to do clip-offs due to severe knotting/matting, we need to do it before bathing. This is to ensure that your dog is thoroughly cleaned. Cutting off an unclean coat to remove dense mats wears out our clipper blades and machines much quicker, leading to more frequent blade sharpening or even replacement.

  • My dog needs special shampoos and medication. Can you use/use these?

In any case! It is important that you continue to use the products your veterinarian has given you for your dog's health. Please be sure to bring these with you.
